Your new role

As a Grant Verification Officer, you will report to the Governance Officer and be responsible for managing and planning independent audits for funded organisations. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring expenditure is eligible, actual, and consistent with project budgets.
  • Completing verification forms and producing detailed reports on non-compliance or ineligible expenditure.
  • Confirming compliance with grant applications and contract conditions.
  • Tailoring verification work to address project size and nature, uncovering and addressing irregularities.
  • Regularly reporting on non-compliance and financial irregularities, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Contributing to the review of funding schemes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensuring safe storage of financial records and facilitating internal and external audits.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grade C or above), including Maths and English.
  • At least 2 years of experience in verification or audit of expenditure, financial accounting, or payroll processing.
  • Experience in reviewing financial processes and controls.
  • Proven ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages, particularly MS Excel.
