Hays are collaborating with a well-established company in Co Down that specialises in geotechnical and ground-engineering solutions. They are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for a permanent position. The company focusses on modern geotechnics and foundation engineering, emphasising innovation and development to tackle challenges effectively. Notably, they have worked on projects involving bridges, harbours, and motorways. As an international leader in ground-engineering solutions, they collaborate with major construction companies across the UK and Ireland.
Your new role
A need arises for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our client’s established team. The role will involve office-based work, but sometimes on-site work , predominantly based around the specification, quoting, operation, management, interpretation, and reporting of geotechnical and contaminated land investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaison with clients, regulators and design engineers
- Manage a variety of geotechnical projects from inception to completion.
- Manage financial budgets for projects.
- A good understanding of characterising ground conditions and providing recommendations covering foundation design, ground improvements, earthworks, basements, retaining wall, mining, dissolution, and slope stability assessments.
- Conversant with design software and geophysical surveys
What you'll need to succeed
A candidate for Geotechnical Engineering role must have:
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a ground investigation within the UK with experience of soil/rock logging, fieldwork and sitework supervision
- With a degree in Civil/ Geotechnical Engineering or relevant degree
- A Self self-starter, a team player with strong communication skills and a proactive character
- Must have a UK driving licence for travelling to sites within the UK
