Financial Planning and Analysis Lead

Hays are proud to be working in partnership with a major public sector organisation in Edinburgh who, after a period of growth, are looking to recruit a Financial Planning and Analysis Lead into their established finance team. This is a new role, and therefore, for the right individual, this role can be moulded and shaped by the successful individual.

Your new role
In your role, you will work in a varied position and hold some excellent responsibilities:

  • Lead medium to long-term financial planning, collaborating with the finance team, business areas, and government bodies to account for the financial impact of strategic goals and external factors.
  • Act as the finance lead on fee reviews and models, ensuring all costs are recovered and integrating the process into regular business operations with scheduled reviews.
  • Oversee regular unit cost analysis and review overhead absorption rates to ensure they are appropriate. Provide analysis and reports to internal stakeholders to inform business decisions.
  • Support the corporate plan and financial strategy as needed.
  • Serve as a key finance lead in business development, ensuring financial data, structure, analysis, and reports support new initiatives.
  • Effectively and efficiently report relevant risks, dependencies, and blockers.
  • Support projects as required, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complete business cases and key aspects of related financial planning and analysis.
  • Manage a small team, providing proactive guidance, support, and development.
  • Partner with business units to provide analytics that enhance decision-making through trend analysis, financial models, and dashboards.
  • Support ad hoc requests from other finance team members, providing necessary analysis and recommendations.
