Your new role
A Financial Controller is being sought to lead the finance function and play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation’s strategic growth. This is a “hands-on” position responsible for day-to-day accounting, monthly and annual reporting, and acting as a business partner to Department Heads and the Board. The role also involves driving improvements in processes, controls, and systems to ensure the finance function is robust and scalable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns
  • Oversee sales invoicing (with support from Accounts Assistant)
  • Complete month-end reconciliations and prepare management accounts with variance analysis
  • Maintain short-term cash flow forecasts (weekly) and purchase ledger forecasts (monthly)
  • Prepare long-term cash flow projections and annual P&L forecasts
  • Liaise with external accountants for year-end statutory accounts and corporation tax filings
  • Handle company secretarial duties
  • Support commercial teams with quotations for new contracts
  • Analyse machine shop timesheets for accurate component costing
  • Calculate year-end stock provisions
  • Cost products using ERP system and Excel
  • Handle bills of materials
  • Provide data for annual insurance renewals and complete government statistical surveys

What you'll need to succeed
  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of management accounts, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with costing bills of materials and manufacturing processes
  • A proactive mindset with a keen interest in IT and process improvement
