Your new role

A growing and dynamic organisation based in Plymouth is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to join their team. Operating in a fast-paced and purpose-driven environment, the business is committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement. This is a key leadership role within the finance function, offering the opportunity to make a real impact.

Your new role As Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. You’ll manage two direct reports and work closely with senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making and drive performance. This is a fully office-based role (5 days per week), paying £60,000–£70,000, and open to both part-qualified and fully qualified accountants. The position is available on a permanent or interim-to-perm basis, replacing a recent leaver.

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong presence in the business. You’ll be expected to roll up your sleeves, lead by example, and build strong relationships across departments. Being a people person is essential, as you’ll play a key role in mentoring your team and collaborating with non-finance colleagues.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll be a proactive and operational finance professional with solid technical skills and a track record of delivering results. Experience in a hands-on finance role is essential, along with the ability to lead and develop a small team. You should be confident working independently and comfortable navigating a fast-moving environment. A recognised accounting qualification (or working towards one) is desirable.

What you'll get in return

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business where you can make a tangible impact. You’ll benefit from a competitive salary, the chance to shape the finance function, and the opportunity to grow with the company as it continues to expand.
