Financial Accountant job for a global Engineering company near Warrington.
Hays Senior Finance are working with a global Engineering company near Warrington who are looking to recruit a qualified Financial Accountant. This successful and growing company has excellent financial controls and an established finance team across multiple locations. The company has multiple offices in the UK and across the globe which service multiple divisions and legal entities.
As Financial Accountant you will work with the Head of Financial Reporting and have responsibility for the preparation of year-end accounting and audit information for multiple legal entities. You will support the Head of Financial Reporting in providing technical accounting advice across the region, leading on annual impairment assessments of investments, and responding to technical accounting and audit related queries from our external auditors.
Key responsibilities -
- To be a valuable team member within the Reporting team and assisting in the coaching and mentoring of other team members to achieve best in class performance
- Supporting the provision of timely, accurate and relevant technical accounting support to the business
- Supporting the external audit process, including preparing extended trial balances and statutory accounting notes, and responding to queries from auditors. The UK & Ireland currently has c30 audited companies, including several major trading companies.
- Ensuring statutory financial statements are accurate, comply with local GAAP and legal regulations and are filed in accordance with local timescales, including posting and reviewing journal entries.
- Leading on the annual impairment assessment of investments in subsidiaries, and being the point of contact for queries from our auditors.
- Supervising and directing our offshore Global Business Services team to drive the efficient production of statutory accounts
- Building strong relationships with internal and external finance colleagues, business partners, advisors, and key business leaders to support, optimise, explain, and manage the financial structures in place to support the business
- Supporting the ongoing drive to reduce the complexity and size of our legal entity structure by simplifying legal entities and liquidating older legacy companies where possible
- Supporting in the collation of financial information to assist bid submissions on potential future projects for the business
- Supporting the implementation of new UK/ US GAAP accounting standards and corporate accounting policies across the Europe and India region in conjunction with our Global Accounting team, where possible
We are keen to speak with qualified accountants making a first move from Practice who have audit experience and preferably some experience of international accounting standards. We are also considering people with more experience in a technical, financial accounting role in Industry. We could consider part-time applicants as well if you have experience in financial accounting roles.
