Your new role

As a Payroll & Finance Assistant, you will support the Finance Manager with accurate payroll processing and day‑to‑day finance operations.

  • Processing end‑to‑end payroll using Sage Payroll, including starters, leavers, amendments, absences, and entitlements
  • Producing payslips, processing BACS payments, and managing payroll deductions, pensions, and HMRC submissions
  • Maintaining accurate payroll and absence records and supporting payroll year‑end activities
  • Posting payroll journals and reconciling payroll, pension, and Inland Revenue accounts
  • Supporting financial operations including purchase, sales, and nominal ledger processing using Sage Line 50
  • Preparing journals, accruals, and prepayments, and assisting with audits and reconciliations
  • Managing petty cash, bank transactions, and weekly bank and cash reconciliations
  • Acting as a key point of contact for payroll and finance queries while maintaining strict confidentiality

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring both technical payroll experience and the right values‑based approach.
Essential requirements:

Proven experience in payroll processing
Strong working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and Sage Payroll
Competent IT skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Honest, reliable, motivated, and committed work ethic
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
