Overview

A dynamic and detail-oriented Finance Officer is required to support financial operations in a busy and welcoming educational setting. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing school finances and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee effective financial management, including budget setting and monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenditure, and financial transactions.
  • Process invoices, orders, and payments efficiently.
  • Prepare and monitor school meal accounts.
  • Support statutory financial reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and governors to provide financial insights.
  • Utilize Google Workspace and other IT tools for financial documentation.
  • Operate SIMS and FMS systems (training available if required).
Essential Requirements

  • Experience in financial administration or bookkeeping.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and cloud-based tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
Desirable Attributes

  • Familiarity with school finance systems (SIMS, FMS).
  • Experience in an educational or public sector setting.
  • Knowledge of statutory financial reporting requirements.

Contract Details

  • Hours: 15 hours per week (Monday–Friday, term time only)
  • Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year, with potential for extension
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: Band F, Scale Point 11–18 (£24,612 to £27,030 pro-rata)
