Finance Officer Vacancy

Your new company

You will be joining a well‑established housing organisation based in Cardiff, recognised for its strong community focus, collaborative culture, and commitment to delivering high‑quality services.
Due to increased workload and ongoing projects within the finance function, they are now looking to appoint a Finance Officer on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across a professional finance team within a supportive and purpose‑driven environment, offering hybrid working.

Your new role

As a Finance Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the day‑to‑day running of the finance function. You will be involved in both transactional finance and reporting activities, working closely with the wider team.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing income processes, including invoicing, income allocation and collections
  • Supporting expenditure processing, including supplier invoices and payments
  • Reconciling purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Maintaining accurate records across accounts payable and receivable
  • Monitoring debtor balances and supporting credit control activities
  • Assisting with month‑end processes, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Preparing reports such as aged debtors/creditors and cashflow information
  • Supporting improvements in finance processes, systems and controls
  • Working with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and queries

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience within a finance, accounts or transactional role
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, invoicing and ledger processes
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel
  • AAT qualification or studying is desirable but not essential
