Finance Officer Needed for Immediate Start - 3 Month Contract | Manchester City Centre with Hybrid Working

Your New Role

As a Finance Officer, you’ll be at the heart of the Accounts Payable and payroll operations. You’ll ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and employee benefits, while maintaining strong financial controls and clear audit trails. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing supplier invoices and payments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining audit-ready records.

  • Preparing journals, reconciling balance sheets, and managing procurement card and bank reconciliations.

  • Supporting payroll and benefits administration, including pensions and eye care schemes.

  • Managing the online expenses system and ensuring policy compliance.

  • Providing financial guidance to non-finance colleagues and supporting training initiatives.

  • Coordinating the Finance Helpdesk mailbox and acting as the team’s data champion.

  • Assisting with audits, system administration, and reporting.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, proactive professional with:

  • AAT Level 3 qualification (minimum).

  • Experience in financial operations, ideally within the public or civil service sector.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in advising on financial policies.

  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of public sector finance and payroll processes.

  • Familiarity with GDPR and data protection regulations.
