Finance Manager role with a leading public sector organisation – Hybrid working, salary £40,000–£50,000.

Hays is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join a reputable Public Sector organisation in Harrogate. This is a full‑time, hybrid position offering the chance to combine office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Your new role
As Finance Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality services by ensuring financial stability, compliance, and strategic insight. You will oversee financial operations, provide accurate reporting, and partner with leadership to drive sustainable growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial reporting & analysis – deliver monthly management accounts, forecasts, and year‑end reports.
  • Budgeting & forecasting – lead annual budget planning and monitor performance against targets.
  • Cash flow management – oversee day‑to‑day cash flow and working capital.
  • Compliance & audit – ensure statutory requirements are met and liaise with external auditors.
  • Process improvement – streamline financial systems and reporting to support healthcare operations.
  • Business partnering – work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support patient care.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in finance management, ideally within the public sector, not for profit, and/ or similar environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
