Finance Manager (Part‑Time) | Plymouth
Your new company
You’ll be joining a well-established, values‑led organisation based in Plymouth that plays an important role supporting the local community. The organisation operates with a small, close-knit team and places a strong emphasis on integrity, sustainability, and long-term financial resilience. Finance is viewed as a key partner in decision-making rather than a back-office function.
Your new role
- Producing monthly management accounts with clear narrative and analysis
- Managing cash flow, including forward-looking forecasts and cash planning
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting, monitoring performance and variances
- Overseeing day-to-day finance operations, including invoicing, payments, bank reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
- Processing payroll and ensuring compliance with PAYE, pensions and HMRC submissions
- Owning and developing the organisation’s accounting system (Xero) and improving finance processes
- Supporting year-end accounts, audit and regulatory reporting, including compliance with charity and statutory requirements
- Preparing clear financial information for senior stakeholders and Board reporting
- Providing line management support to one direct report
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in a hands-on finance role, such as Finance Manager or Management Accountant
- Strong experience producing management accounts and working with financial data
- Ability to interpret figures and provide meaningful financial insight, not just report numbers
- Experience using accounting software (Xero preferred)
- Experience processing payroll (BrightPay desirable)
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Confidence in working independently and engaging with senior stakeholders
What you'll get in return
- A part-time role (30 hours per week) offering flexibility and work–life balance
- The chance to work closely with senior leadership and influence decision-making
- A varied and rewarding role where you can make a genuine impact
- A stable, supportive working environment with opportunity to improve and shape the function
