Your new company
Hays is proud to be partnering with a leading organisation in the renewable energy sector, recognised for delivering some of the UK’s most significant large ‑ scale infrastructure projects. The business operates within a collaborative, internationally diverse environment where finance plays a critical role in supporting long ‑ term strategic growth. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, this organisation offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports the transition to cleaner energy across the UK. You will be part of a highly skilled finance function where your expertise will help shape the performance and financial stability of complex renewable assets.
Your new role
In this role as Finance Associate, you will take responsibility for supporting the full spectrum of project finance activities and insurance coordination across key UK renewable projects. You will oversee the management of project finance documentation, ensuring lender communications are handled efficiently and that updates to DSCR statements, debt repayments, distributions and waiver requests are completed accurately and on time. You will contribute to the lender covenant monitoring process, identifying any risks of non ‑ compliance and ensuring these are escalated appropriately.
You will play an active role in preparing reporting, notifications and claims across multiple large ‑ scale projects. Working closely with external insurance brokers, you will coordinate insurance requirements and support the wider UK insurance portfolio. You will assist in the management of shareholder loans and broader credit support obligations, ensuring all amendments and updates are tracked effectively. You will support guarantee fee agreements, treasury activity and cash ‑ flow forecasting in collaboration with teams across the organisation. In addition, you will liaise regularly with project sponsors, commercial colleagues and corporate finance partners to maintain accurate financial governance, and you will contribute to hedge confirmations and settlements in line with established policy frameworks.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will need a degree in finance, economics, mathematics or engineering, paired with two to three years of professional experience in credit support, loan administration or the management of insurance policies. You will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and analytical skills. Effective written communication and the ability to structure information clearly are essential, as is a results ‑ oriented approach and the confidence to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You must be fluent in English, both written and spoken, and additional languages will be considered an advantage. An interest in or prior exposure to energy or infrastructure projects would also be beneficial.
What you'll get in return
You will join an organisation with a strong culture of collaboration, professional development and continuous improvement. Working within the renewable energy sector will offer you exposure to complex project finance structures, sophisticated insurance arrangements and a wide range of financial responsibilities that will support your long ‑ term career growth. Based in Edinburgh, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects of national significance while developing your expertise within a high ‑ performing finance team and a purpose ‑ driven environment. Additionally you will receive a competitive benefit package with a flexible hybrid working arrangement
