Finance Assistant, Shrewsbury, AAT

They are now seeking a motivated Finance Assistant to join their growing team and play a key role in maintaining smooth financial operations.


Your new role

This position is ideal for someone eager to strengthen their finance skills and gain hands‑on experience within a busy, collaborative environment. Working alongside an experienced finance team, you will support a wide range of activities that keep the organisation running efficiently. Your day‑to‑day work will span month‑end processes, bank reconciliations, supplier payments, and maintaining accurate financial records, while also building positive relationships across the business and with external partners.
Key responsibilities
  • Invoice processing — accurately input and manage supplier invoices
  • Purchasing compliance — ensure all purchasing procedures and internal controls are followed
  • Supplier support — respond to supplier queries promptly and professionally
  • Creditor management — maintain accurate creditor balances and complete monthly reconciliations
  • Client disbursements — post monthly disbursements into the practice management system
  • Weekly payment runs — prepare supplier payments for approval
  • Bank transaction posting — process daily bank transactions and ensure correct allocation
  • Client invoicing — raise invoices for digital subscriptions, tax investigation services and registered office fees
  • Subscription administration — support accurate billing for new and departing subscribers
  • Debt chasing — assist with credit control activity
  • Month‑end journals — support the posting of journals and month‑end checks
  • Timesheet and expense approval — ensure submissions are reviewed and approved
  • Management accounts support — contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts

What you'll need to succeed

  • Level 3 AAT desirable
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts‑based role
  • Strong analytical mindset with confident problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
