Finance Assistant for a Stockport based company. £26500-28,000 Pro rata

Based in Stockport, We are seeking an adaptable and proactive Accounts Assistant to join a busy team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is hands-on, approachable, and eager to support a wider accounts function. The successful candidate will have a positive can‑do attitude and be flexible in meeting the day‑to‑day demands of a dynamic department.

Your new role

Working as part of a small knit finance team, you will be responsible for assisting the department with various finance related tasks:-

Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the Accounts Department with a range of transactional & support duties.
  • Supplier statement reconciliations, including the collection and verification of missing invoices.
  • Matching purchase orders accurately.
  • Processing and checking weekly staff expenses.
  • Assisting with purchase ledger tasks/ledger when required
  • Undertaking various ad hoc duties that support the daily function of the department.
  • Ongoing development within the team to acquire broader knowledge of all account processes.
This role would suit someone who thrives in a varied position and enjoys working in a close-knit team environment. You must be adaptable, enthusiastic, and committed to providing high-quality support across the accounts function.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience using Sage 50 Accounts is highly desirable (but not essential).
  • Excel
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused approach.
  • Highly organised, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and support wherever needed.
