Finance Assistant (Credit Control) *LEGAL*

Your new company :

An established and highly regarded boutique law firm based in the heart of Central London is seeking a Credit Controller / Cashier to join its close-knit finance team. Recognised as a specialist within its field, the firm has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional client service and continues to grow its presence within the legal sector. Working within a collaborative environment, you'll have direct exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to make a visible impact on the firm's financial performance.

Your new role :

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to join a small, supportive finance team in a blended position that combines credit control responsibilities with exposure to wider legal finance activities.

Initially, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end credit control process, managing aged debt, building relationships with partners and fee earners, resolving billing queries, and helping to drive cash collection performance across the firm. You'll also support legal cashiering duties, including reconciliations, client and office account transactions, and wider finance administration.

What makes this opportunity particularly attractive is the career development on offer. After approximately nine months in the role, you will gain exposure to management accounts and broader finance responsibilities. This is a genuinely rare opportunity for someone coming from a credit control background who wants to develop a wider accounting skill set without needing to move into a large corporate structure.

What you'll need to succeed :

  • Previous credit control experience within a legal or professional services environment (Must Have)
  • Strong understanding of debt collection, aged debt management, and stakeholder engagement
  • Exposure to legal cashiering and SRA Accounts Rules would be advantageous.
  • Experience working within a small or medium-sized business environment is desirable.
  • Confident communicating with fee earners, partners, and senior stakeholders
  • A proactive and hands-on approach with a willingness to support across multiple finance functions
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

What you'll get in return :

  • Opportunity to join a respected boutique law firm with an excellent reputation
  • Exposure to both credit control and legal cashiering responsibilities
  • Direct access to senior stakeholders and a highly visible role within the business
  • Rare opportunity to gain management accounts exposure after approximately nine months
  • Broad finance experience that can support long-term career development
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Central London location with excellent transport links
  • The chance to make a genuine impact within a growing organisation
