A government agency are hiring a Facilities Manager to oversee maintenance services to a large estate.

We are exclusively partnered with the Medicine & Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The site comprises state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure specialised to deliver the Science & Research (S&R) statutory functions, including high containment, clean rooms, production filling areas, cold rooms and offices. Our client are hiring a Facilities Manager to join their team and lead a small in-house maintenance team across the estate in South Mimms.
Your new role
As Facilities Manager, you are responsible for managing the Facilities Team to allow the scientific functions to be delivered; ensuring the effective delivery of facilities services, consisting of internal and external building maintenance as well as contract management of a number of suppliers to provide planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and repair of a variety of facilities and specialised equipment to support the South Mimms Site (SMS). Key duties will include:
- Responsible for the provision of Facilities Services for the SMS, ensuring the buildings, facilities and grounds are safe and fit for use 24/7, to allow Science, Research and Innovation (S,R&I) to deliver their statutory functions.
- Accountable for the planned preventative maintenance program for specialist plant and equipment, ensuring all safety systems and equipment are maintained and fit for use.
- Investigate, analyze and resolve faults on specialist plant and equipment as they occur and on a priority basis, such that the SMS continues to function safely.
- Contract manage various contracts to provide high quality facilities and services to the Agency/S,R&I, such as maintenance contracts for lifts, catering equipment, fire alarm and others.
- To include management, co-ordination and supervision of contractors and engineers.
- Responsible for the facilities statutory compliance, such as Asbestos, Fire, Lifts, Legionella L8.
- To manage the Facilities Staff including all formal management tasks.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will require relevant experience in overseeing general and grounds maintenance services, ideally within a large public sector or commercial estate. You will also require:
- Relevant trade/maintenance experience (ideally relevant qualifications)
- Supervisory/management experience to lead the in-house team
- Experience in use of CAFM systems
- Strong compliance & H&S knowledge
- Experience in critical environments is desirable
