Fabric Technician / Handyperson

Handyperson – Temporary Assignment
Location: PE2 Salary: £16 per hour
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Contract Type: Temporary long term

About the Role
Join a dynamic facilities team as a Handyperson, providing essential maintenance support across a busy site in Peterborough. This is a varied role covering both reactive and planned preventative maintenance, ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and problem-solving in a collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Carry out routine planned maintenance tasks as directed, including pest proofing, painting, basic carpentry, and small plumbing works
  • Operate MEWP and forklift (as directed)
  • Install and dismantle pasma/stair towers (training provided)
  • Complete all relevant paperwork to a high standard
  • Take responsibility for the care and proper use of maintenance equipment and tools
  • Use spares and materials cost-effectively
  • Support other team members and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Maintain a safe, tidy, and responsible approach to all duties, in line with Health & Safety requirements
  • Complete quotes, ensuring labour and parts are accurately recorded and prioritised
  • Ensure all works are correctly allocated and produced for invoicing
  • Manage your own workload efficiently and maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Comply with client company rules and uphold a high standard of discipline
  • Attend relevant training and safety briefs, and actively promote good safety practices

About You
  • Semi-skilled background or experience in building work is an advantage
  • General awareness of Health & Safety regulations
  • Knowledge of permit to work systems and building maintenance equipment/tools is beneficial
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development
  • Relevant Health & Safety training completed or willingness to complete
  • Able to work independently and keen to develop new skills
  • Valid full driving licence required
  • Willing to work towards IOSH Managing Safely
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in a call-out roster
