Fabric Engineer

Your new company

We are recruiting a Fabric Engineer to support our client’s contract in Chester. This role involves delivering high-quality building fabric maintenance across healthcare facilities, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Your new role

Respond to reactive maintenance tasks and complete works within agreed timescales.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on building fabric including:
Flooring, wall coverings, ceiling tiles
Doors, windows, and basic carpentry
Minor plumbing tasks (e.g., tap repairs, unblocking sinks)
Basic electrical tasks (e.g., lamp changes)
Conduct site surveys and produce method statements and risk assessments.
Support minor project works and refurbishments.
Ensure all works are completed in line with Health & Safety regulations.
Use PDA systems for job tracking, updates, and communication.
Liaise with client representatives and subcontractors to ensure service delivery.
Participate in emergency call-out rota as required.

What you'll need to succeed

Proven experience in building fabric maintenance, ideally within healthcare or high-profile environments.
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry, Joinery, or a related trade.
Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge.
Strong understanding of H&S procedures including:
COSHH
Working at Heights
Risk Assessments
Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH or NEBOSH) desirable.
Full UK driving licence.
PC literate and comfortable using digital job management systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
