EYFS Teaching Assistant St Helens

Your new role

Full-time (Must be available 5 days per week) Experience essential | Relevant qualifications desired but not essential

We are working with a warm and supportive primary school in the St Helens area who are seeking an experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood education and confident in supporting in nursery and reception.


The school is looking for a committed and enthusiastic EYFS practitioner who can support the class teacher in delivering high quality Early Years provision. You will be working Monday to Friday and must be confident in supporting learning, wellbeing and personal development across the EYFS environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting children’s learning through purposeful play and structured activities
  • Assist with planning, delivering and evaluating EYFS provision alongside staff
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support, including phonics, early literacy and numeracy
  • Conducting observations and contributing to pupil progress records
  • Promoting independence, communication and social skills
  • Setting up and maintaining engaging classroom and outdoor learning spaces
  • Supporting children with additional needs in line with personalised plans
  • Using positive behaviour strategies and following school safeguarding procedures
  • Helping with classroom administration, displays and resource preparation
  • Liaising professionally with staff, parents and outside agencies
  • Comfortable providing personal care where required (nappy changing)


What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in an EYFS setting is essential
  • Early Years qualification (Level 2/3) preferred but not essential
  • Caring, patient and enthusiastic about Early Years development
  • Comfortable with personal care duties
  • Must be available Monday–Friday
  • Reliable and able to work collaboratively as part of a strong team
  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
