Early Years Teaching Assistant

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and nurturing primary school in Lancashire to recruit an enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated EYFS team committed to providing a stimulating and supportive learning environment where children can thrive during their first years of education.

Your new role

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support children within the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping them to develop socially, emotionally, and academically through a range of engaging activities. Working closely with the class teacher and wider EYFS team, you will contribute to creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where every child can reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning activities within the EYFS classroom
  • Leading and facilitating small-group and one-to-one interventions
  • Encouraging children's development through play-based learning and exploration
  • Supporting children's personal, social, and emotional development
  • Assisting with observations, assessments, and learning journals
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping children develop confidence and independence
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support pupil progress


What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children in an Early Years setting, school, nursery, or childcare environment
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Early Years qualification is desirable.
  • A good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and framework
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
