EYFS & KS1 Teaching Assistants St Helens

Start Date: January 2026 (Immediate availability in January required)
Location: St Helens & close surrounding areas Availability:
Minimum 3 days per week
Experience: Any child-focused setting, e.g. school, nursery, childcare, youth work etc.
Contract: Temporary with opportunity for a permanent position

We are looking for EYFS & KS1 Teaching Assistants who are looking for a fresh start, a new role and an exciting 2026. If you are passionate about making a difference in children's futures and being a part of their learning journey, we want to hear from you.

Experience in any child-focused setting is essential, for example, school, nursery, childcare, youth work etc. Our schools offer part time or full time hours so we can work around your availability, but what we do ask is that you are available at least 2/3 days per week, these can be alternate days.
  • Support children in EYFS or KS1 with their learning and development, both individually and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities, lesson preparation, and resource organisation.
  • Help implement play-based learning strategies and encourage curiosity and creativity.
  • Provide support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and help deliver tailored interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Supervise pupils during playtime, lunch, and school trips.
  • Foster children’s social, emotional, and physical development, ensuring they feel confident and secure.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff to support pupil progress.

What you'll need to succeed
  • A proactive, enthusiastic individual who can adapt quickly to different classroom settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one through Hays.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Available immediately.
  • Available at least 2/3 days minimum per week.
  • Experienced in a child-focused setting.
  • Relevant qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
