Exams Officer Job Available at Secondary School in Bolton

We are seeking an organised, proactive and detail‑focused Exams Officer to support a secondary school in Bolton on a temporary basis from after February half-term until the end of the academic year, covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of all internal and external examinations, including GCSEs and assessments across KS3 and KS4. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who thrives in a fast‑paced school environment and is confident in managing deadlines, compliance and communication.

Start Date: 23rd February or ASAP
Contract: Until July (End of Academic Year)
Location: Bolton
Hours: Full‑time, Term‑time only
Rate: Up to £18/hour, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the organisation, scheduling and administration of all examinations.
  • Liaise with exam boards, senior leaders and teaching staff to ensure compliance with JCQ regulations.
  • Manage entries, registrations, access arrangements and exam timetables.
  • Prepare exam rooms, materials and invigilation rotas.
  • Oversee the secure storage, distribution and collection of exam papers.
  • Train, supervise and support invigilators.
  • Ensure accurate recording of results and oversee post‑results services where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all processes meet safeguarding and data‑protection standards.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an Exams Officer, Exams Manager or Exams Administrator
  • Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with staff, students and exam boards.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in MS Office and exam management systems.
  • A flexible, reliable and professional approach to work.
