We are working closely with a fast-growing infrastructure and civils contractor with over 25 years’ experience in highway and drainage works. Our client offers more than your standard main contractor. Their professionally qualified engineers use their key expertise to deal with the multi-faced complexities of Section 278 projects, ensuring all works are completed ‘right first time’ with projects signed off by the council and placed straight into their maintenance period.” We have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join an expanding Civil Engineering business which specialises in delivering Section 278 and Infrastructure works. The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in reviewing the tendering opportunities, by accurately estimating the costs associated with the Civil Engineering projects.
Your new role
- Conduct detailed and accurate take-offs and cost estimates for Civil Engineering projects, including but not limited to roads, highway drainage, street lighting and traffic signals.
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Working to deadlines to ensure we meet our client’s needs.
- Utilise industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare accurate cost estimates, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Sub-Contractors to gather the necessary information and input details for cost estimation.
- Evaluate material, labour and equipment costs to determine the most cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude towards their work and will help to contribute towards a collaborative work environment. Further to this, you will need to possess the following skills sets:- Proven experience as an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor in the Civil Engineering or Construction Industry.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately assess project costs and risks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
