Estimator - Permanent - Coventry - Established Organisation - Severn Trent Water Framework - Civil Engineering
Your new company
Our client, an established and high-profile organisation based in Coventry operating within the water industry, is seeking an Estimator to join their pre-contract team. This multi-accredited company specialises in the delivery of clean and waste water infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the Severn Trent Water region and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development.
This is a full-time permanent position (37 hours per week, Monday – Friday) based in their Coventry office with hybrid working and occasional travel as and when required.
Your new role
As Estimator, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing tender documentation, specifications and drawings provided by main contractors
- Interpreting project scope and developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for subcontract works
- Assisting in preparing and submitting complete bid packages in line with deadlines
- Conducting detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
- Compiling bills of quantities and pricing schedules
- Obtaining and evaluating costs from suppliers and specialist subcontractors
- Identifying commercial and technical risks within tenders and proposing mitigation strategies
- Negotiating competitive pricing while ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards
- Supporting pre-construction meetings and contributing to bid strategy discussions
- Assisting in the handover of successful bids to the delivery with clear cost and scope documentation.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:
- Experience estimating within heavy civils (groundworks, earthworks and/or reinforced concrete structures), ideally in the water sector
- Ability to estimate from first principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, estimating system software
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence.
