ER Manager, 18 months FTC, up to £43500 pa + great benefits, public sector, ER experience essential.

You will be part of the HR Business Partnering team which provides operational and strategic HR support and advice to managers and staff across the full remit of HR matters.
Reporting to the Senior HRBP, your focus will be on the ER casework – providing expert support and advice on employee relations casework matters to managers of all levels. You will ensure that all cases are handled in line with our organisational culture and values while reducing the risk of cases becoming complex or presenting an employment law risk. You will be able to analyse data to identify employee relations trends and use this data to propose suitable proactive interventions and solutions, on both an operational and strategic level, to upskill managers and employees with the aim of reducing risks of future casework occurring.
A key member of the team, as ER Manager, you will need to be able to build and maintain trusted relationships with members of the team, especially the HRBPs and HRAs who hold the local management relationships with teams and who also will be involved with casework. They will need to be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and have excellent stakeholder relationship skills, ensuring that casework demands are triaged effectively and that they provide an excellent service across teams and departments. You will have line management responsibility of the HR Casework Coordinator.

What you'll need to succeed

Strong ER experience is essential. To avoid disappointment, please only apply if you have worked in an ER role.

Proven experience of working at HRBP/Manager level (or equivalent) in a complex organisation.
• Experience of successfully working autonomously while effectively managing a portfolio of complex casework, including dealing with ACAS and Employment Tribunal cases
• Ability to provide successful solutions-focused HR advice and guidance across a range of HR areas, including performance management, attendance, grievance and discipline.
• Able to quickly establish influential and trusted working relationships with a range of senior leaders and coach managers on best practice in relation to HR issues. Has tenacity and confidence to challenge when needed.
• Proactively work to resolve HR issues which may be a barrier to teams and individuals achieving key performance objectives and improving business functions
• Experience of managing change (e.g. restructures, redeployment and redundancy) and a thorough understanding of change management principles
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills to influence decision-making.
• Ability to analyse management information to identify trends and provide strategic interventions.
• Ability to identify training needs amongst teams and experience of delivering specific training packages to managers as needed (both online and in person)
• Excellent line management skills, including coaching and developing a team.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office packages including Outlook, Word and Excel
