End User Support Engineer
Your new company
You’ll be joining a large public‑sector organisation undergoing significant modernisation across its technology estate. The team you’ll be part of sits at the heart of frontline IT operations, ensuring staff have reliable, high‑quality equipment and support. Their End User Services (EUS) function is responsible for the day‑to‑day technology from laptops and mobile devices to specialist equipment and plays a vital role in keeping services running smoothly.
Your new role
In this contractor position, you will deliver hands‑on technical support, device builds, deployments and user assistance across a range of end‑user technologies. You’ll work closely with operational teams to ensure equipment is available, functional, and optimised for their needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Technical Support & Deployment
- Building, refreshing, configuring and supporting laptops, desktops and mobile devices.
- Supporting Windows and M365 deployments, break/fix and large‑scale rollouts.
- Troubleshooting performance issues and providing technical handovers.
- Connecting devices securely to the network, including Ethernet and VLAN‑based configurations.
User Support & Customer Service
- Advising and guiding end users on equipment usage, troubleshooting and best practice.
- Providing onsite support, managing appointments and ensuring clear communication around availability and wait times.
- Delivering user training on device operation and resolving day‑to‑day issues.
Asset & Stock Management
- Managing inventory across multiple sites, including device delivery, allocation and returns.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring stock levels meet operational demand.
- Following structured processes for deployment, maintenance and decommissioning.
Operational & Project Work
- Supporting major refresh programmes and technical rollouts.
- Planning deployments to minimise disruption across several locations.
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders including security, facilities and IT infrastructure teams.
- Producing documentation such as SOPs, guides and training materials.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in end‑user technical support and device configuration.
- Strong hands‑on skills with laptop builds, refreshes, mobile setup and break/fix.
- Knowledge of Windows, M365, and deployment tools/environments.
- Basic understanding of networking — Ethernet, VLANs, secure connectivity.
- Ability to liaise with third‑party suppliers and internal operational teams.
- Excellent communication, customer service and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage assets and documentation accurately.
- A proactive, user‑focused approach with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
