Your new school
Ripplevale School and College is a specialist education provider committed to supporting pupils and students with social, emotional and mental health needs. The school places emotional wellbeing at the heart of its educational approach and offers a highly collaborative, supportive working environment where staff are encouraged to develop professionally while making a genuine difference to young people’s lives.

You will be joining a dedicated Therapies and Intervention Team that works closely across the school to deliver a holistic, pupil‑centred provision aligned to EHCP objectives and best practice in wellbeing support.

Your new role
As an Emotional Wellbeing Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils and students experiencing social, emotional and mental health challenges. Working alongside the Emotional Wellbeing Manager, you will help deliver targeted emotional wellbeing interventions using CBT‑based strategies through the school’s mentoring and intervention programmes.

Your responsibilities will include providing one‑to‑one and group mentoring, supporting therapeutic programmes, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to intervention planning and review. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, parents and carers to ensure a consistent and supportive approach that promotes positive behaviour, engagement and progress.

This is a rewarding, term‑time role ideal for someone passionate about mental health, wellbeing and inclusive education, who thrives in a structured yet caring school environment.

What you’ll need to succeed
  • Experience or strong interest in supporting children and young people with emotional wellbeing, mental health or behavioural needs
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to apply, CBT strategies and mentoring approaches
  • The ability to work autonomously while remaining an effective team player
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
  • Confidence in maintaining accurate intervention records and attending review meetings
  • A commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, GDPR and equality and diversity
  • A professional, positive and resilient mindset aligned with the values and ethos of the school

Experience within education, therapy, psychology, youth work or wellbeing support will be highly advantageous.

What you’ll get in return
  • A term‑time only position supporting a healthy work‑life balance
  • Ongoing training, supervision and professional development opportunities
  • The chance to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team
  • A meaningful role where your work directly impacts pupils’ wellbeing and outcomes
  • A school culture that values collaboration, inclusion and personal growth

If you are passionate about emotional wellbeing and want to make a lasting difference within a specialist education setting, we would love to hear from you.
