Intermediate Electrical MEP Engineer - focusing on technical health and pharma sectors

Role Overview:
The Electrical Building Services Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems within technical health and pharmaceutical buildings. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, optimising energy efficiency, and supporting the delivery of high-quality building services solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and specify electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, security systems, and data networks.
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical services into building designs.
  • Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to assess existing infrastructure and project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with current British Standards and building regulations.
  • Monitor and inspect work on-site to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in commissioning activities and handover procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and sustainable design.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Proven experience in electrical building services design and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice (e.g., BS 7671).
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Membership of a professional body such as the IET or CIBSE.
  • Experience with BIM and sustainable building practices.
  • Familiarity with low-carbon technologies and smart building systems.
