Electrical Engineer
Salary: £35,000–£41,000 per annum
Location: Cambridge
Contract: Full-time, permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join a large, diverse Estates Division responsible for managing and maintaining a wide range of academic, research, and heritage buildings across Cambridge.
About the Role
You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems across a complex and varied estate. This includes planned maintenance, compliance activities, improvement projects, and providing technical support to colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to the development of engineering standards, support the delivery of capital projects, and help ensure that buildings meet current and future operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance for electrical systems and equipment.
Provide technical expertise on electrical infrastructure, compliance, and safety.
Support the design, review, and implementation of electrical aspects of refurbishment and construction projects.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure works meet required standards.
Assist with condition surveys, asset reviews, and improvement planning.
Contribute to energy-efficiency initiatives and sustainability goals.
About You
You will be an experienced electrical engineer with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a complex and busy environment.
Essential requirements include:
A recognised qualification in electrical engineering
Strong understanding of relevant electrical regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
Experience working in building services, estate management, or similar environments.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
