Electrical Design Manager – Prominent MEP Contractor – Co. Down

A leading multi-disciplinary building services contractor based in Northern Ireland is seeking an Electrical Design Manager to join their growing team. Your new role

The successful candidate will lead the design management process across major projects, overseeing design engineers, and coordinating with clients and contractors to ensure fully integrated and compliant MEP designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage in-house design engineers, Revit and CAD engineers, and external design partners
  • Coordinate with clients, main contractors, and internal teams from tender through delivery
  • Conduct design reviews and verifications using IES, Revit, Amtec, and other tools
  • Oversee concept and detailed design development, ensuring compliance with ERs, specs, and legislation
  • Review drawings, technical submissions, and subcontractor proposals
  • Manage design approvals, trackers, and timelines, resolving issues early
  • Attend design meetings and support commercial teams on design-related matters

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline
  • Proven experience in design or technical review of building services electrical systems
  • Strong technical knowledge of LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security, and data systems
  • Experience on large-scale projects such as hospitals, schools, or commercial developments
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and PDF markup tools (desirable)
  • Understanding of BSRIA/RIBA stages and required design detail
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering analysis software
