Electrical Design Engineer

Hays Engineering are working in partnership with a company based in Dungannon to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer for their highly established site in Dungannon. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading business delivering to customers worldwide.

The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for complex machinery and production equipment. You will be involved across the full product and project lifecycle, contributing to both new developments and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical control systems, schematics and wiring diagrams for automated equipment
  • Develop panel layouts, cable schedules, BOMs and technical documentation
  • Support projects from concept through design, build, testing and commissioning
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and customer specifications
  • Work closely with mechanical, software and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Support prototype builds, testing and fault-finding activities
  • Assist with design changes and engineering change control processes
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, installation and service teams
  • Contribute to design standardisation, cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in electrical design within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical CAD tools such as EPlan, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical or similar
  • Understanding of control systems, machinery wiring and industrial electrical standards
  • Exposure to PLC-based systems and automation equipment is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and build-driven design principles
  • Experience working to engineering standards and regulatory requirements
