Electrical Design Engineer - Birmingham

Your new company

We’re working with a well-established and forward-thinking engineering business that’s leading the way in offsite prefabricated building services solutions. With a strong presence across the UK and Europe, they specialise in delivering innovative, sustainable energy systems for major projects in sectors such as healthcare, education, residential, and commercial developments. Their continued growth has created an exciting opportunity to join their Birmingham-based design team.

Your new role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be a key part of a collaborative and experienced design department. You’ll be responsible for developing detailed electrical designs for a wide range of energy-efficient systems, including general power and lighting, boiler plant layouts, CHP generators, circulation pumps, inverters, and BMS control equipment. Working closely with project managers, clients, and BIM specialists, you’ll help bring complex energy solutions to life using the latest AutoCAD and MEP 3D software. You’ll also play a hands-on role in site surveys, design meetings, and supporting the commissioning process.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a background in Electrical or Control Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent) and at least three years’ experience in building services design. Proficiency with electrical design tools such as Amtech or Electrical OM is essential, and familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or MEP software would be a bonus. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage your workload independently will also be key to your success.

What you'll get in return

In return, you’ll join a company that truly values its people. You’ll benefit from a clear progression path, structured mentorship, and ongoing CPD support to help you grow into more senior roles. The business offers a competitive salary, a generous pension scheme, life assurance, health and wellbeing benefits, and a range of perks including annual health checks, social events, and free on-site parking. You’ll also enjoy a supportive team environment and a healthy work-life balance, with early finishes on Fridays.
