Education Support Worker (SEN) – Full-time | Long-term | Immediate/April start

We are seeking dedicated, patient and motivated SEN Teaching Assistants / Education Support Workers to work at a Sixth Form College in Leicester on a full‑time and long‑term basis. This role is ideal for anyone passionate about helping young people with additional needs succeed in a post‑16 setting.

The role at a glance
You’ll be supporting learners aged 16–19 with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop essential life and study skills. Your support will play a key role in their academic progress and personal development.

What you’ll be doing
  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Assisting in classroom, workshop and vocational sessions.
  • Encouraging independence, communication and social development.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals.
  • Supporting progress towards EHCP targets.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
What we’re looking for
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN (education, care, youth work or similar backgrounds welcome).
  • A calm, empathetic and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to tailor support to individual needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their goals.
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science – essential for this role.
