Your new role
They are seeking a proactive and organised Ecology Coordinator to support the delivery of ecological services across a range of development projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong coordination skills, ecological knowledge, and a passion for biodiversity and ecological compliance.

Project Coordination:
  • Manage scheduling and logistics for ecological surveys and assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Track project progress and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Ecological Support:
  • Assist in the preparation and review of ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and protected species survey reports.
  • Support field teams with data collation and mapping (e.g., GIS).
  • Maintain and update ecological databases and records.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all work complies with UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and internal quality standards.
  • Monitor and report on ecological mitigation measures and planning conditions.

Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with ecological consultants and senior staff to support project delivery.
  • Coordinate internal communications and contribute to team development and training initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or environmental coordination.
  • Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software (e.g., QGIS or ArcGIS).
  • Membership of CIEEM or working towards it.
Desirable Skills
  • Botanical identification proficiency.
  • Experience with BNG metrics and biodiversity planning.
