We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join a dynamic environmental consultancy.

Your new role

The main responsibilities of this role include:

• Conduct ecological surveys, including Phase 1 habitat and protected species (bats, great crested newts, reptiles, birds).
• Undertake desk-based studies and compile ecological impact assessments (EcIAs).
• Prepare data: mapping (QGIS), data processing, analysis, and report writing.
• Supervise site-specific ecological works and act as Ecological Clerk of Works.
• Liaise with planning authorities, clients, and statutory bodies for permissions and consultations.
• Support proposal production, client meetings, and tender preparation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols onsite.

What you'll need to succeed

• Minimum CIEEM membership (Graduate, Associate, or full Member).
• Proven experience with ecological survey techniques, especially PEA and protected species.
• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field, with 2–3 years of consultancy experience.
• Proficiency in QGIS/GIS mapping and data handling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (overnight stays may be required).
• Strong commitment to environmental compliance and practical fieldwork.
