Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted-rated "Good" Nursery School in Widnes as they are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated early years teaching assistant to a temporary full-time contract that will last the full academic year. This is a full-time contract supporting pupils with SEN between the ages of 2 - 4.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will support the class teachers to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment for all pupils by utilising an array of learning equipment and ensure that all lessons are inclusive to pupils' needs. You will offer 1:1 and group support across the classroom, ensuring that all pupils' attainment needs are met whilst integrating your pupils into new pupil groups. A number of pupils within this class have SEN with needs ranging from ASD, moderate learning disabilities and other specific disabilities. You will work alongside the SENCO to ensure that all pupils receive outstanding care (both physical and academic) and to ensure that each pupil's individual EHCP and needs are met. Your duties will typically consist of:

  • Phonics sessions and assessments
  • Observations and learn through play to promote social and emotional development
  • Completing specific interventions in key EHCP areas i.e., speech and language, behavioural, etc
  • Completing personal/intimate care requirements

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Have experience supporting SEN
  • Be at least NVQ Level 2 Early Years or equivalent qualified
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
