Runcorn, mixed reception and nursery class. Long-term full-time contract starting September.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single-form entry mainstream primary school in Runcorn as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support pupils within a mixed reception and nursery class. This is a full-time long-term temporary contract (32.5 hours per week) starting in September that will last the length of the academic year.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant in a mixed nursery and reception class, you will be supporting pupils between the ages of 3 - 5. You will work alongside the class teacher to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment by taking a pupil-centred approach to education and utilising an array of learning equipment such as white boards, puppets and academic toys. As you will be supporting the early years department as an experienced core member of the team, you will take a lead on phonics, offer small group assessments using the read write scheme and fresh start, including 1:1 sessions to lower or mixed ability pupils. As well as supporting with phonics, you will work alongside colleagues to complete observations and learn through play sessions to aid in your pupils' social and emotional development. A number of pupils within the class have SEN with EHCP's in place, with a number of pupils on intake requiring further assessment process. To aid the SENCO you will identify and give valid input on pupil requirements, including the identification of SEN and referring to the SENCO.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within a reception/early years class within the last 2 years, and:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN
  • Be able to commit to a full-time contract
  • Have experience using the RWI phonics scheme
  • Have an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant as well as a wide range of amazing benefits, which include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Long-term contract
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
