Early Years Teaching Assistant – Level 3
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Hours:Term-time only, Monday–Friday, 11:15am–6:00pm
Salary: £25,035 – £25,454 (FTE) – Permanent
Start Date: September 2025

You will play a key role within an outstanding, purpose-built Early Years department, directly supporting Early Years Teachers to nurture a love of learning in Reception class and assisting with the After School Club. Reporting to the Head of Early Years, you will work closely with the Reception class teacher to support children’s learning and development through engaging activities, daily routines, and classroom organisation. As part of the After School Club team, you will also plan and lead activities for children in the Early Years After School provision.

What You’ll Do:
  • Support Reception class learning through small group and 1:1 activities
  • Deliver phonics, literacy, numeracy, and creative sessions
  • Use online journals (e.g. Tapestry) to track and support children’s development
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
  • Plan and lead fun, age-appropriate activities during After School Club hours.

✅ What You’ll Need:
  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g. CACHE Diploma)
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Experience with phonics schemes and online learning journals
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • A passion for early childhood education and teamwork
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
