About your role as an Early Years Practitioner

As part of your role as an Early Years Practitioner, you will spend your mornings working within the schools large Nursery and afternoons either covering within the Nursery and Reception classes or providing SEN intervention support. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety standards are met.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
  • Updating the children’s learning journal on a daily basis with any relevant information.
  • Working within the framework of the nurseries policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the preschool and parents.


What you will need to succeed in the Early Years Practitioner Job

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare
  • Experience of working with a key group
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • Experience of the EYFS and using it within a nursery setting
  • Enthusiastic, passionate, and full of ideas to encourage learning and development
