DT Technician needed to support with Resistant Materials. Wirral – starting asap.

Your new company

I am currently working with a secondary school based in Bromborough who are looking for a DT Technician to support with Resistant Materials starting asap.

The school does have a permanent post, but due to the timescale, they have not yet started the proper recruitment process, so they are looking for an interim option for now. They do plan to find a permanent solution during next term, so there is a good chance that this will lead to a contract for the right person.

Your new role

This role is full-time; 35 hrs per week from Monday - Friday, term time only.

The main purpose of the role is to provide specialist technical and administrative support within the DT faculty. Day to day duties will include:

  • Setting up machines, tools and other resources for sessions in line with current COSSH regulations
  • Check and clear away equipment after lessons
  • Dispose of waste according to HSE regulations
  • Deliver demonstrations as required
  • Ordering materials; ensuring the stock room is clean and tidy and resources stored appropriately
  • Maintain departmental records
  • Carrying out regular safety checks on equipment; conducting repairs where appropriate

What you'll need to succeed

For consideration for this DT Technician post specialising in Resistant Materials, you will need:

  • Prior experience of working with Resistant Materials
  • An awareness of COSSH and HSE Regulations (a H&S qualification would be desirable)
  • Confidence in demonstrating techniques and machinery to school-aged children
  • A minimum of GCSE or equivalent qualifications
  • Woodworking skills, basic electronics and maintenance skills
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
