Domestic Abuse Officer - Ongoing temp - St Helens

We're recruiting for an experienced Domestic Abuse Officer to provide specialist support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse on behalf of our well-established social housing client. This is an ongoing, temporary role, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, on a hybrid basis with 2 x set office days.

Key responsibilities:

  • Make initial contact with victims and carry out risk assessments to identify levels of need, providing initial advice and support

  • Manage your own caseload and work collaboratively with other agencies, empowering clients to understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and regain control of their lives

  • Represent the group at MARAC, providing relevant case information

  • Support target hardening to help client remain safely in their homes

  • Develop safety and support plans in partnership with other agencies

  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns for both adults and children using the multi-agency framework

  • Maintain accurate records, including risk assessments, support plans and case notes

  • Follow local referral pathways and connect individuals to specialist services for support

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of working with individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse

  • Understanding of domestic abuse legislation, risk assessment and best practice

  • Experience of participating in MARAC, knowledge of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working

  • Strong case management skills, including assessment and support planning

  • Ability to respond in crisis situations and make sound judgements under pressure

  • Commitment to work from the office 5 x days per week
