Civil Design Engineer position with a leading housebuilder - open to consultancy background

Your new company
Your new company are a Tier 1 housebuilder, recognised for building beautiful high-quality homes across the Northwest and UK over the last 50 years. In the Northwest alone, they currently have 16 sites under construction, and a further 6 local sites at varying stages of planning and development.

They are looking for a Design Engineer or Senior to join their technical team, which has 22 staff across engineering (civils), architecture and planning reporting into an Engineering Manager.

Your new role
As a Design or Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for undertaking the engineering design from land appraisal stage, through to construction - the full project life cycle. You will produce highway and drainage designs, and progress adoption agreements (S38 & 104) with relevant authorities where appropriate.

You will work closely with the Land and Planning department, advising on technical viability of new sites by outlining schematics, producing drawings and technical reports for them. When appraising the land itself, you will conduct initial negotiations with statutory bodies on highways, drainage and environmental issues.

Once acquired, you will commission site investigations, and other relevant surveys before briefing internal and external consultants on the scope of design to ensure the most cost-effective solution is achieved.

What you'll need to succeed
  • In order to succeed you will need a minimum of 3 years relevant drainage and highway design experience, either within a consultancy or a housebuilder environment
  • Experience producing civil engineering drawings for S38 and S104 packs, ideally in the residential sector although not essential
  • Profficient in the use of relevant design software including AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/Causeway, PDS/Civil3D
  • You should be a capable problem solver with a proactive approach, and a close attention to detail
  • In addition to the technical skills, it is important that you approach your work collaboratively and are competent in your ability to communicate effectively with internal and external departments

What you'll get in return
  • In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary up to £45,000 at Engineer grade, or £55,000 for a Senior
  • In addition, you will receive a car allowance (option to take as part of monthly salary), ~£6,000 for Senior and ~£5,000 for Engineer
  • Furthermore, you will be eligible for a 10% discretionary annual bonus, based on targets
