Your new role

We are seeking an exceptional leader to support the Director of Audit Policy in driving the development and strategic direction of audit and assurance policy within the AAP Team.
This is a high-profile role with responsibility for leading the development of UK audit and assurance policy, including full ownership of ethical frameworks for audit and assurance practitioners. You will provide authoritative technical expertise across the organisation, particularly supporting Supervision and Enforcement, and represent the organisation at senior internal and external levels.
The role includes:
• Leading on all aspects of audit and assurance ethical frameworks, including fee waiver applications
• Shaping and delivering the AAP Team’s strategy and project portfolio
• Providing strategic oversight across policy development and regulatory initiatives
• Engaging with senior stakeholders including audit firms, regulators, professional bodies, and international standard setters

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of deep technical expertise, strategic leadership, and strong stakeholder management skills.
You will have:
• A CCAB qualification
• Extensive experience in developing and drafting technical audit-related standards and guidance
• Strong leadership capability, with the ability to define and deliver strategic vision
• In-depth knowledge of the external auditing, assurance, and ethical standards
• A strong understanding of UK and international audit regulatory frameworks
• Insight into emerging developments such as audit technology, sustainability assurance, and private equity in audit firms
• Proven people management experience and a commitment to developing others
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
