Database Developer
Your new company
You’ll be joining a leading technology consultancy partnering with a major financial services organisation on a high‑impact programme to strengthen fraud detection capabilities. The team is driving a key initiative to migrate from Aerospike to AWS cloud‑native databases while integrating Databricks for sophisticated back‑testing of fraud detection models. This is a forward‑thinking, engineering‑driven environment where innovation, scalability and resilience sit at the heart of every solution.
Your new role
In this role, you will play a central part in developing and integrating Proof of Concepts (PoCs) from the fraud‑detection backlog. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, design and build high‑quality solutions, leading the migration of data and services to AWS cloud-native technologies. You’ll integrate Databricks-based back‑testing into the existing detection pipeline and work closely with architects to ensure smooth, reliable system integration. You’ll participate in weekly stand-ups, showcase progress, and take end‑to‑end ownership of your assigned tasks to ensure timely, robust delivery. What you'll need to succeed
- Strong AWS expertise, ideally with hands-on experience across DynamoDB, Redis, Postgres, Aerospike or similar cloud-native and caching technologies.
- Proficiency in Kafka for real-time streaming and service integration.
- Experience building and deploying NodeJS applications on AWS.
- Solid backend programming skills in Java.
- A strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, service orchestration and inter-service communication.
- A proven commitment to clean, maintainable, performant code and building scalable, resilient systems.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
- Awareness of secure coding standards, data protection principles, and experience in regulated environments such as financial services.
- Confidence in unit, integration and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Jest, PyTest).
- An Agile, proactive, and solution-driven mindset.
What you'll get in return
You’ll gain the opportunity to work on a flagship modernisation programme delivering real-world impact in financial security. Expect a highly collaborative environment, the ability to shape technical solutions, and the chance to work with cutting‑edge cloud, data and distributed technologies. You’ll build PoCs that influence future fraud detection strategy and be part of a fast-paced, supportive engineering culture that values innovation, autonomy and continuous improvement.
