Your new role
The Oracle DBA/ Database Engineer is responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining database systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable. This role involves supporting and mentoring the operational database team by promoting best practices, driving automation, and introducing innovative technologies and approaches. The engineer will take ownership of operational requirements and ensure that any changes to standards and processes are implemented consistently across the organization.

Beyond hands-on technical responsibilities, the position requires active participation in project meetings, planning sessions, and related activities under the guidance of project managers. Developing expertise in containerized database technologies, if not already acquired, will be essential for success in this role.

What you'll need to succeed
Experience of postgresSQL migration from oracle to postgres, devops tools (Ansible)
Strong Oracle DBA BAU experience
Seeking UNIX based core DBA expertise.

  • Oracle accredited certification or equivalent hands‑on enterprise Oracle expertise.
  • Strong expertise with Oracle databases (19c/23c) - Install, configure, upgrade.
  • Strong SQL/PLSQL, RMAN, Data Guard, ASM, OEM.
  • Scripting experience using either shell scripting, YAML or Python to support automation, monitoring, integration, and operational tooling.
  • Proven determination and ability to automate database build, deployment, configuration, and operational tasks using Ansible or equivalent automation and configuration‑management tools.
  • Experienced with UNIX based core DBA expertise.
  • Solid troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
  • Proficient in containerisation and platform technologies, including containers and OpenShift, with a solid understanding of how PostgreSQL workloads
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to support database-related deliverables, including design input, implementation, testing, and successful handover into BAU operations.
  • Work in partnership with production colleagues (DBAs, infrastructure, application support, and DevOps teams) to ensure system stability, rapid incident resolution, and continuous service improvement
