Be part of a respected regional housing group that’s passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. With a focus on quality homes and customer care, this employer values integrity, growth, and social impact.
Your new role
This is a standalone Data Protection & Policy Officer position within the Risk and Governance team (part of Finance). You’ll report to the Head of Risk and Governance and work closely with colleagues across procurement, HR, and executive leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all GDPR-related matters across the organisation.
- Responding to Subject Access Requests (SARs).
- Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), reviewing processing activities, and drafting privacy notices.
- Advising staff on third-party data processors and investigating data breaches.
- Writing reports and making recommendations to reduce future risks.
- Acting as the go-to expert for all data protection queries and escalations.
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for someone confident, concise, and professional in their communication—able to advise firmly and clearly, even when business priorities conflict. You should be:
- Experienced (minimum 2 years) in a similar data protection role, ideally within housing, council, NHS, or other public sector environments.
- Comfortable working autonomously and making decisions with integrity.
- Skilled in handling sensitive data and advising on complex GDPR issues.
- Approachable and proactive, with the ability to escalate appropriately and maintain professionalism.
- CIPPE certification is desirable but not essential.
- Legal background.
What you'll get in return
- Flexible working: hybrid model with 2 days in Sevenoaks office.
- Supportive team environment with weekly meetings and monthly check-ins.
- Opportunity to shape data protection practices.
- Potential for the role to become permanent.
