Data Management Lawyer sought by major regulatory body
Your new company
This leading regulatory authority is looking for a lawyer to join their enforcement team to lead on legal and policy issues relating to data management. This organisation plays a critical role in ensuring transparency and accountability within the financial and corporate sectors, and is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and compliance across the UK. You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working on complex, high-profile investigations that make a real impact.
Your new role
You will provide expert legal advice on UK GDPR, DPA, FOIA, and related legislation, ensuring best practice across complex regulatory investigations. You will develop and implement data management policies and strategies, draft practical guidance for case teams, and lead workstreams to update procedures in line with legislative changes. Your role will also involve close collaboration with government departments, regulators, and external counsel on high-profile matters. This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise with strategic thinking, influencing policy and supporting investigations that protect the public interest.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be a qualified solicitor with at least 6 years' PQE and have significant experience in advising on UK data protection laws (UK GDPR, FOIA, DPA) and best practice compliance. It is also important that you have previous experience in an enforcement or investigatory context, ideally with a regulator or disciplinary body. It is desirable to have strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders, as well as a proven ability to manage projects and deliver under pressure. This organisation will also consider applications from candidates seeking part-time arrangements.
What you'll get in return
A competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including:
30 days annual leave, and the ability to buy extra leave.
Generous employer pension contribution of 10%.
Access to a Staff Employee Assistance Programme, including confidential counselling and work-life services.
Cycle to Work scheme.
A strong work/life balance ethos and flexible working arrangements.
