Your new role

The Data Governance Lead is responsible for establishing and leading the Data Governance programme, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of data across the organisation. This role will define and implement governance frameworks, policies, and standards, and coordinate all data governance initiatives in alignment with business and technical strategies. The role acts as a bridge between IT and business, promoting data as a strategic asset.

  • Define the vision, objectives, and scope of the Data Governance programme.
  • Develop and maintain governance artefacts such as the Data Governance Charter, policies, standards, and metrics.
  • Lead the implementation of data governance processes including metadata management, data quality, master data, and data classification.
  • Own and maintain the enterprise Data Catalogue.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to ensure alignment with data handling requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data governance maturity and capabilities.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for data governance initiatives.
  • Communicate programme status, risks, and issues effectively at the executive level.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive experience in Data Governance, including frameworks, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Data & Analytics disciplines and their strategic importance.
  • Proven ability to work with both business and technical teams to define and implement governance requirements.
  • Experience with metadata management, data quality tools, and master data management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with data protection and compliance standards.
