Your new role
This role focuses on building a new, secure, and centralised post trade data platform using cloud native technologies on AWS and Snowflake. The platform operates within a federated delivery model, combining global Core Engineering teams with engineers embedded in each business division to lead the implementation and adoption of AWS and Snowflake data tenancies.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a hands on contributor (with Strong focus on live technical ability) delivering risk store data tenancies as part of the broader data platform strategy. You will design and develop end‑to‑end data pipelines spanning ingestion, Snowflake data warehousing, and analytics/reporting layers, while supporting the migration from on‑premise to cloud systems. Working closely with product and engineering teams across locations, you will help shape scalable, modern data solutions and play a key role in rolling out a new cloud‑based analytics platform.
What you'll need to succeed
- You are a seasoned data engineer with strong hands on experience designing and building automated data pipelines and data structures.
- Extensive experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Strong Python development skills (hands‑on).
- Strong experience working with Snowflake as a database/ data warehouse.
- Proven data engineering experience delivering analytical data warehouse solutions using Snowflake, SQL, and DBT!
- Strong SQL skills, including complex query development and performance optimisation
- Solid data engineering fundamentals, such as:
- Data modelling (such as facts, dimensions, Type 2 SCDs)
- Joins, database logic, and query optimisation - Cloud migration experience (desirable but not essential)
- Desirable* Financial services or risk domain knowledge: such as knowledge of trades, positions, margins, and stress scenarios
